Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsi has launched a new messaging app ‘Bitchat’. This app also works without internet connection. That is, users will be able to send messages to each other without internet through this app.

This privacy focused messaging app is based on Peer-to-Pier Technic and does not require any centralized server or phone network. Currently, this app is currently available on the test flight platform for iPhone users.

Bitchat works on Bluetooth network

Bitchat Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) works on the mesh network. In which smartphones make small clusters among themselves and send encrypted messages from one device to another. It does not require Wi-Fi or mobile data due to working through Bluetooth. This app is especially useful in places where the Internet connection is not available or where the network is closed.

Unlike traditional messaging apps such as WhatsApp or Telegram, Bitchat is fully dysmented. For this, users do not need to create an account with email or phone number. The messages are stored only on the users’ devices and after some time they are automatically deleted. This provides security from privacy and censorship of users.

How does Bitchat messaging app work?

Bluetooth Mesh Networking: This app creates clusters of devices in a range of 30 meters. As users move, their devices add other clusters. With which messages can reach beyond the normal Bluetooth range.

Internet does not need: Bitchat works without Wi-Fi, mobile data or centralized server.

Encrypted messaging: In this app, messages end-to-end are encrypted and after some time they are automatically deleted.

No need for registration: In this app, users do not need to create an account by using their email or phone number. Due to which the conversation remains completely anonymous.

Bitchat’s available

Bitchat is currently in beta testing phase and is available only on Apple’s Testfly platform. Soon after the launch, it touched a limit of 10,000 testers. Jack Dorsi has publicly shared the app whitepaper and beta invitation.

Developers in beta phase are focusing on battery optimization and relay-capability. There is a plan to include the Wi-Fi protocol in the final release, so that Rich-connents like pictures and videos can also be shared. There is also a plan to get it available for more platforms in future.
