78% of iPhones sold in the US are being made in India despite Trump’s threat to Apple.

India has now become the largest exporter of smartphones to America, leaving behind China. This is an indication that the manufacturing supply chain between tariff war is moving away from China. According to research firm Canalis, Made in India was 44% of the imported smartphones in the US in April-June this year.

India was only 13% in April-June last year. On the other hand, China’s share in the smartphone exported to the US declined to 25% in the June quarter, which was 61% a year ago.

Smartphone manufacturing increased by 240% in a year

Vietnam’s stake in the smartphone exports to the US was also 30% more than China. This is the first time India has sent more smartphones to America than China. According to a canalis report, the manufacturing of smartphones in India has increased by 240% compared to a year ago.

Apple is closing retail stores for the first time in China

Apple has decided to close a retail store for the first time in China. The company announced that Dalian city’s Parkland Mall Store would be closed on 9 August. This step is an important turn for Apple, as China is a big market for Apple. There are 56 stores of Apple in China, which is more than 10% of its total outlets.

India shifting from China getting global manufacturing

Canalis chief analyst Sanyam Chaurasia said that global manufacturing is gradually shifting to India. According to China’s Electronics Manufacturing Company Agelian Technology Executive VC Renod Anjorn, many global manufacturing companies are fast shifting to India.
