Indian Railways has started a scheme for those who go home in Diwali and other festivals from today (August 14) on the experiment base. In this, if you book a ticket to come and go together, then you will get a discount of 20% on the return ticket.
This will benefit those who use the train to go home and come back. The Railways has taken this decision on the experimental base in view of the crowd and the problems of the people for the tickets during the festivals.
Discount will be given on booking both tickets together
- The train should be of one pair: If you go to Patna by Ahmedabad Express, then this pair will have to return a return ticket from the train. For example, if we go from Ahmedabad-Barauni (19484), then the return of this pair will have to be returned from Barauni-Ahmedabad (19483).
- Ticket details should be the same: All the details given in the ticket should be the same. That is, things like source and destination (from where to go), passenger name, age, distance and class (sleeper, 3 AC, 2 AC) should be one in both tickets.
Booking will start from August 14
According to the Railways, to take advantage of this exemption, tickets will have to be booked between October 13 to October 26, 2025, between 17 November to 1 December 2025. Booking will start from August 14.

Discounts will not be found in trains with dynamic pricing
These discounts will not apply to trains with flexi fair like Shatabdi Express, Rajdhani Express, Duronto Express, Suvido Express, Vande Bharat Express, Tejas Express trains. But apart from this, all categories and especially on demand trains i.e. festive special trains are included in this discount.
