Tata took AI India takeover from the government for Rs 18,000 crore. The company then ordered the world’s largest aviation deal by ordering 470 aircraft.
AI is planning to take a bank loan of about $ 200 million (about Rs 1,700 crore) for the purchase of 777 aircraft.
According to the Economic Times report, the company will buy these aircraft from a US leasing firm. For this, Loan will be taken through AI Fleet Services IFSC Limited, a subsidiary of Air India, which is registered in GIFT City, Gujarat.
This may be the company’s first aircraft shopping after the Ahmedabad plane crash. On June 12, a 787 Dreamliner Plane of the Boing Company took place in Ahmedabad in which 260 people lost their lives.
Aircraft can buy 11-13 year old aircraft
According to a Bloomberg report, these Boeing 777 aircraft will be purchased from an American leasing company. They are 11 to 13 years old and are being used on long distance routes like Indo-US. Air India is facing problems with delay in delivery of new aircraft and supply chains.
These aircraft are essential for long distance flights, as the delivery of new aircraft will take time. Currently Air India has a total of 191 aircraft, including 64 widebody and 127 Narobody planes.

Conversation for purchase of 200 new aircraft
According to the report by Reuters, Air India is interacting to buy about 200 new single-nyesal (Naro Body) aircraft from Airbus and Boeing. AI has already ordered 470 aircraft in 2023. In addition, last year 100 Airbus aircraft were ordered. However, most of these were single-oil aircraft. The new deal will be for wide body aircraft.
Airline has ordered 470 aircraft for ₹ 6 lakh crore
Air India ordered 470 aircraft to Airbus and Boeing two years ago. According to CEO Campbell Wilson of Air India, the value of this deal is $ 70 billion (about ₹ 6 lakh crore). Under the deal, Air India will get 250 aircraft from Airbus and 220 from Boeing.
The 40 wide body A350 aircraft, 210 Narobody single-Aijal A320 Neos Aircraft were to be received under the deal with Airbus. At the same time, there is $ 34 billion (about ₹ 2.9 lakh crore) from Boeing. Under this, Air India will get 190 B737 Max aircraft, 20 B787 aircraft and 10 B777X aircraft.
