Air India announced on Monday that it will close its flight services between Delhi and Washington DC from 1 September. This decision has been taken due to operations ie operational challenges, so that the airline can maintain the reliability and quality of its overall root network.

The main reason for this ban is the aircraft fleet of Air India. Because, the airline has launched the process of renewal of its 26 Boeing 787-8 aircraft last month.

This renewal program has been started to improve passengers experience, but due to this many aircraft will not be available by the end of 2026.

Apart from this, long distance flights are being affected due to the closure of Pakistan airspace, due to which the flight routes are getting longer and operational complication is increasing.

Passengers will be given alternative travel arrangements

Air India said that after September 1, the passengers who booked from Washington DC or there will be contacted. They will be made available to re-booking or complete refund in other flights such as alternative travel arrangements, such as their choice.

Passengers will still travel to Washington DC via Four India Interline Partner Airlines-Alska Airlines, United Airlines, and One-stop flights with one-stop flights with four American gateways like New York (JFK), Newarark (EWR), Chicago and San Francisco through four American Gateways.

In these flights, passengers will be able to travel on the same ticket and their goods will be transported to the final destination. AI India from India has six destinations from North America, including Toronto and Vancouver in Canada. Will continue to operate non-stop flights between them.
