The National Payments Corporation of India i.e. NPCI has directed to completely discontinue the Peer-to-Pier (P2P) Collect request in UPI from 1 October 2025. This means that now a person will not be able to send a request to ask for money from another person through UPI.

Question: What is P2P Collect request?

Answer: P2P Collect request or ‘Bridge Transaction’ is a facility in which UPI user sends requests to ask for money from another user. On receiving the request, the person paying the money approves the payment through his UPI PIN.

Answer: After misusing this feature, fraudsters were cheating UPI users. He used to send people to accidentally transfer money by sending unknown requests. The NPCI has taken this decision to prevent rising cyber fraud.

Answer: No, this restriction is only on P2P collect request, ie among individual users. Merchants (such as Flipkart, Amazon, Swigy, or IRCTC) will still be able to use the collect request for valid business, provided the user will approve the payment.

Answer: NPCI has directed all banks and UPI apps to prevent P2P collecting transactions from 1 October 2025 from starting, root or processing.
