What is Prime Minister Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana?

The scheme is inspired by NITI Aayog’s Aspirational District Program, but it will focus only on agriculture and its associated areas in the country. In this, 100 such districts will be selected where the productivity is low, crop cycle limited and loan distribution to farmers is very low. There will be at least one district cover from every state/union territory.

What will be the new changes in this scheme?

Focus on crop diversity:The Prime Minister’s Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana will be focused on high yield, crop diversity. This will increase the productivity of farming. Farmers will now be motivated to adopt other crops and sustainable agricultural methods instead of wheat and disdain.

Panchayat and block level storage:After harvesting, warehouses, cold storage and value addition units will be set up at panchayat-level and block level for safe storage of produce.

Better irrigation and loan system: Every farmer will have long and short -term cheap debt and irrigation facilities.

Natural and Organic farming: There will be a special focus on soil-water conservation, organic farming and water savings, which reduces the expenses of the farmer and increase income.

How will the scheme work?

36 Integration of central schemes: It will add 36 schemes of 11 ministries, along with state schemes and private sector participation will be added.

Each district’s own wealth committee: A committee will be formed by adding experts and progressive farmers at every district, state and national level for planning and monitoring.

Digital dashboard: 117 important points will monitor the progress of every district. NITI Aayog and central officials will also review from time to time.

District agricultural committee : Each district will have its own ‘District Agriculture and Allied Activities Plan, in it, the strategy of crop, irrigation, storage etc. will be decided according to local needs and strength.
