The bank has said that the UPI service will be interrupted for about 45 minutes due to technical maintenance.

The country’s largest government bank, State Bank of India (SBI) has released the necessary information for its customers. Tonight SBI’s UPI users may face problems from 12:15 to 1:00 pm.

The bank has said that the UPI service will be interrupted for about 45 minutes due to technical maintenance. During this time, customers may have inconvenience in sending and taking money through SBI UPI.

SBI will upgrade SBI

SBI reported that this downtime has been kept for necessary maintenance and system upgradation, so that customers can get further digital banking facilities.

Users run UPI Lite in downtime

The bank has advised that during this downtime, customers can use UPI Lite Service, which is different from the normal UPI and will continue during the closure. Due to which there will be no problem in the transaction of small amount.

How to use UPI light?

UPI Lite is actually a sympathetic version of UPI. It also works when the bank’s server is down. In this, small transactions (up to ₹ 500) can be done every time UPI PIN.

  • Open any UPI-app (eg Phonpe, Paytm, BHIM or GPAY).
  • Go to the UPI Light section seen on homescreen.
  • Activate UPI light by linking SBI account.
  • Add balance to UPI Light Wallet (maximum ₹ 2,000 at a time).
  • With this, banks can pay immediately without waiting for approval.
  • This is a good option for small expenses like grocery, tea shop, auto-rickshaw, travel fare.
  • With this, you neither need SMS every time, nor do you have to enter a PIN for every payment.

Service was stalled on 2 July

Earlier on July 2, the Digital Banking Services of State Bank of India came to a standstill. Because of this, bank customers faced technical difficulties in using services like Yono, UPI, RTGS, NEFT, INB and IMPS.

According to the platform down detector, who described the real time status of the website and online services, between 12:45 to 2:00 pm, more than 800 users had complained of SBI’s services to a standstill.
