Trump said in a telephone interview to business channel CNBC on Tuesday that India is not a good business partner. According to Trump, India’s tariffs are the highest in the world and people do not say this openly.
Trump says that India does a lot of business with America, but America does not get much benefit from India. That is why they have decided to impose 25% tariffs on India, it will come into effect from 7 August 2025, but they are going to increase this tariff within the next 24 hours.
He said that there is no trade balance between the US and India and India is working to fuel the Russian war machine against Ukraine by trade with Russia. Because of this, America needs to take strict steps.

India said- America is also taking uranium-food from Russia
Earlier, Trump had threatened to put ‘more tariffs’ on India on Monday, after which India first responded to the name of America.
Donald Trump wrote on social media on Monday that India does not care how many people are being killed in Russia’s attack. So I am going to increase the tariff on India.
In response, India released the export data from Russia to the US and European Union (EU) and said, said, “

The US is continuing the import of paladium, fertilizer and chemical for its nuclear industry from Russia, uranium hexafloride, electric vehicle (EV) industry. The same situation is with EU. In such a situation, targeting India is unfair and irrational.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said that it is wrong to target India. We will take every necessary steps for our national interests. Apart from this, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar also said in a program that no one will dominate the world system.
7 important things of India’s statement …
- After the Ukraine struggle, the US encouraged India’s oil imports from Russia to strengthen the stability of the Global Energy Market.
- The purpose of India’s imports is to provide affordable energy to Indian consumers.
- The same countries who criticize India are trade with Russia themselves.
- In 2024, the European Union’s bilateral trade with Russia was 67.5 billion euros. This is much higher than India’s total trade with Russia.
- Europe-Russia trade includes not only energy, but also fertilizer, mining products, chemicals, iron and steel, machinery and transport equipment.
- As far as America is concerned, it is importing uranium hexafloride from Russia for its nuclear industry, palladium, fertilizer and chemicals for its electric vehicle industry.
- In this sense, it is wrong to target India. India will take all necessary steps to protect its national interests and economic security.

Trump threatens to increase tariff on India
Trump said on Monday that India is buying cheap oil from Russia and selling it in the open market with profits. India does not care about how many people are being killed in Ukraine due to Russia’s attack. For this reason, I will increase the tariffs on India hugely.
Earlier, the US President said on Friday that there are reports that India will not buy oil from Russia for long.
Trump imposed a 25 % tariff on India last week, which will be applicable from 7 August.

Despite the announcement of the tariff, India is not ready to agree on the agreement, rejecting American pressure. This is causing the trump.
Trump is not nameing China’s 47% crude of Russia
Trump, entangled in his own tariff war, is an attacker on India and Russia, but is keeping silence on China. While statistics show that China is the biggest buyer of crude oil from Russia.
From December 2022 to June 2025, 47% of Russia’s total crude exports went to China. At the same time, India imported 38%, European Union and Turkas from 6%-6%crude oil Russia.
The US, which threatened tariffs, imported $ 3 billion goods from Russia in 2024. Whereas in the first five months of this year, the US has imported $ 2.09 billion from Russia. This is 24% more than the same period last year. This year the figure can reach $ 4 billion.
The EU did a bilateral trade of $ 72.9 billion from Russia in 2024. At the same time, in 2023 services trade stood at $ 18.6 billion. This is more than the total trade in India’s year or after Russia.
The EU imported 1.65 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia in 2024, crossing a record of 1.521 million tonnes of 2022. Europe from Russia also trade fertilizer, mining products, chemicals, iron and steel and machinery.

Russia said- America is making tariffs weapons
Russia has accused the US that it is adopting a ‘new-liberalist’ policy against developing countries to maintain its dominance in the world.
In the neo-coronalist policy, the powerful countries do not directly occupy the weak country, but they use them financially, political or military pressure on them accordingly.
Russia says that the US is deliberately putting economic pressure on countries that do not want to follow the path of America on the international stage.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Jakharova said that the US is imposing economic restrictions and tariffs (fees) for its interests, but this cannot change the direction of history.
He said, “Russia has many countries that stand with it, especially in Global South and in BRICS Group.”
Russia is ready to increase cooperation with these countries and oppose the ‘illegal and unilateral sanctions’ imposed by countries like the United States.

Jakharova said that nothing is going to change with the tariff or ban imposed by the US.
Trump’s advisor said- India is not treating honesty
US President Trump advisor Stephen Miller said on Monday that India was not treating the US honestly.
Miller said in an interview on Fox News that India calls itself our close country, but despite this it does not approve our goods and imposes heavy tariffs on American goods.
Miller further stated that India incorrectly takes advantage of the immigration policy of America and now buying oil from Russia and fasting the Ukraine war indirectly.
Miller’s statement comes at a time when America is pressurizing India to buy oil from Russia. Miller said that India has now become a big customer of Russia like China, which is a surprising thing.
Although Stephen Miller also admitted that Trump and Modi’s relationship had been very good, but he clearly stated that if India did not balance, the US has all the options open.

Reuters claim- Indian companies less profit
Reuters said in their report on July 30 that Indian oil companies such as Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum have stopped the purchase of oil from Russia, as the discounts are decreasing and there are problems in shipping.
It also said that crude oil has not been demanded from Russia in the last one week. Indian refineries are buying less Russian crude oil, as the discount from there has become the lowest since 2022.
Now the refineries are afraid that the new restrictions on Russia may cause difficulties in foreign trade. The European Union imposed new sanctions on Russia on 18 July. Which includes measures to harm more to the Russian oil and energy industry.
The European Union is trying to keep the price of Russian oil 15% less than the market price.
American oil import doubles after tariff announcement
After Trump’s tariff announcement in April, India has doubled the purchase of crude oil from the US. It increased by 114% on an annual basis in the April-June quarter.
At the same time, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has reduced the prices of 37 essential medicines by 10-15%. These include drugs such as paracetamol, atorvastatin and amoxicillin, which are essential for patients with heart, diabetes and infections.
